Hi, my name is Neil and I have spent a lot of time checking out other free web spaces, not all of them by far. Some of them are nice, and I will use them. But for what ever reason you are trying to use Windows Live, and it would be nice if you had some help setting it all up. Let me just say, Hi, High, and Hello!

Tami didn't talk after getting her teeth out. The first day. Then she woke up. God bless her, and I love her, but Tami talks a lot! I mean it. They told her cancer, well, Okay, Radiation, not good, but okay. We will have to take out all your teeth, then she went pale. I'm sure it was because she knew she would not be able to talk for a wile. She's feeling much better now and the feeding tube is almost ready. We thank you all for your continued prayers.

Anyway, I got bored. Hard to think that could happen I love learning how to use all of this new software "Bill and the Boys" keep putting out for us to play with, but I've played with the spaces for days learning about it. There is still a lot to learn, but I needed to shift off for a spell. Once again, Microsoft came to my aid. I was seeing what was new and I found a lot. Most of it I don't understand yet. I've never been more than a "C" student at best. (Study harder, work longer, keep at it, faintly get it, and the class has moved on, you got a C)

So, last night, I was on a Windows Live page and clicked on the windows icon found at the top left corner of Some Windows live pages. From the page I was on the icon had nothing much under it. It never did have much from where I've seen it. 

 Well, when Tami and I have made suggestions in the past it seemed like they get right on it. I found a feedback box, and told the ether how it could be better, and went on with what I was doing before I got distracted. (Do I get distracted?)

A wile latter, I'm on a different Windows Live page and clicked what looked like the same icon and it had all of the fixes I had just posted to MS. I about crapped. Nobody could fix things that fast! Sure enough they had not, some of those icons hold a lot more than others.

Edit the name and this should should show you a good one. It's a hard to find page, I've only found one link into it, I think it would be better as a tab on the Windows Live personalized page.

Well, Hello again,

Tami is doing a little better today, thank you everyone for your kind thoughts and prayers. Just before Tami got her teeth pulled, our friend Dan sent a woman to our house that sells "health magnets". I always thought they were Bull crap, but the woman left two magnets with us. Tami hurt so bad after getting all of her teeth pulled she taped one to each cheek. About 15 minuets the pain had let up. Placebo, I thought. Latter , Tami took one off to use the phone and forgot to put it back on.

Soon the side with out the magnet was hurting bad and she put it back on.

Then, she took the magnets off to go to sleep and evidently the pain got bad because Tami woke up and found the magnets and tape and put then back on instead of taking pain pills and was able to sleep till noon.

I am sure it was not Placebo effect because she was distracted the first time and sleeping the next time.

I don't sell magnets, but looks like I'll be buying some.

Today, I tested the limits of the templates on the Windows Live Space web sight.

I am using the three column template on my space, but I didn't like it that the smallest boxes, (left hand side near the top) could not be placed anywhere but top left. 

I have saved you all a of work, I'll just tell you.

No.

I tried, everything I could think of the little boxes will only line up on the top left of your space. If you move anything between the little boxes, the boxes under the new one will be bigger now.

The next thing I wondered was, could I have open spaces (no gadgets) on my sight? 

Click customize, wait for it.You should see little arrows on the right side of the title box of most gadgets pointing down. If you click that,you get Preferences - Hide. If you click hide, the gadget goes away, and you may never see it again.

Click Preferences. Not all boxes will have the same choices. Most will let you change the title,  If you do this you may not remember what the box was for, you may wind up trying to past code into a windows Media Player box.

Sometimes it don't matter, I don't need three list for books so I changed one and used it to put a note - somewhere.

Most gadgets will let you hide the title,

Hide the border.

Some will let you check use full width.  

 The only way I found to get the box to really go full width is to move it all the way to the top, all the way to the bottom, or directly under or over a gadget that is full width.

Once you have some gadgets full width, you can drag some half width gadgets between the full width ones, and by mixing short and long gadgets you can get open spaces almost anywhere on your page. (it might look like crap, but you got them.)

I took a lot of time doing it, but I think I have every combination of gadgets that will yield open spaces on the page, I'll try to leave it like that, but I change the page often and sooner or later I'll screw it up.

So if it don't look like that I'm sorry.  

Remember that once you get away from a solid column of small boxes on the top left side coming  down, that's it for the little ones. That is too bad because I have a gadget I want near the bottom, but it only has one Icon in the box, and should be small.

Hi every one, well I spent all day learning new things, installing new things, and making new friends.

It's the last one I'll talk about first.

One of the Gadgets I put on my space shows the last five updated spaces at the time of the gadgets load, with options to see more. Another shows the same for new spaces. When I started my space, I had no idea what to do. Now, as I am learning how to do things on Windows Live spaces, I'd like to pass it on.

 I've went to some of the new spaces and invited there web masters to my space so they can check out the Gadgets and read the notes, most of which are about using these cool toys. I hooked up a hit counter and see that it seems to be working. All of the hits can't be me.

So, grate. Maybe people will be helped by what I can Pass on. If I get something wrong, please let me know, or if you learn some thing you can teach me. (I know some of the Gadgets are not  hooked up yet, and some are just place holders.) I'm just an retired Electronic Technician, (From the days when Popular Electronics was telling us transistors were going to change the world.) turned Artiest Trying to learn how to use these tools that are being given, (well some you got to buy) to people like us.

Well, Tami is back from the dentist, Her ride didn't show up but Our friend Ulee (I don't know how she spells it I think that's it) had been kind enough to stay in the area just in case. Thank God she was here. Hi Ulee!

I will just tell you the same thing I keep telling everyone calling on the phone asking, how is Tami? Like crap! Lets take out your tonsils,do a bad job of putting a feeding tube in your tummy, then rip out all your teeth, and tell you that in a few weeks your going to have to drink radiation while we shoot some kind or a ray gun at your head.  How do you think you would be? Well she's like that.

Can she talk? No.

How long? What on the talking? Three days. She isn't supposed to do anything else for three weeks.

Why cant I set my default font on Windows live writer? Every time I open writer I have to set my font again. Is there a save settings I'M missing?

Why is there no way to change that extremely bright white on Windows Aero interface? Every other color can be set, but not the harsh white that causes so much eye strain. I got no choice except to turn Aero off. After the way MS. hyped up Aero, you would think it would work.

Why can't Microsoft Visual studio 2005 Web developer work with Windows Live Spaces? (The web server does not appear to have the front page extensions installed.) Microsoft's server does not appear to have front page extensions installed. I thought they owned front page?

Why, sense the text to voice reader that comes with Vista isn't worth crap, (All I want it to do is read what ever I high light) why can't we use Opera's web browser who's reader works vary well? Or, why can't the guys and girls at Microsoft make a useful reader or lease the reader from opera, I'm sure they could work something out.

Why's are no fun today. I think I'll try a what.

What happens in Windows  Live Writer if you insert a web sight image? I'll try.

It took four times to get it to show up  on my draft,

Hi Allen, how's every body doing? I know your busy but I would sure love to read about all of the cool places you are going and doing. I need to get back to work on my web sight. I've been goofing off all day. I put Win 98se on a virtual machine running on vista. Microsoft's information was that Microsoft Virtual Machine wouldn't work on this issue of Vista but is checks out so far. I'm not trying  to get on over on Microsoft, Heck, I think it's cool of Mr. Gates to give us all of the tools to play with. But when My wife Tami and I put every last dime into investments in our self's my part was getting an up to date computer, this would at least let me have a shot at learning all I can before my information  and equipment are to old to mean any thing. We read every thing we could find about Vista and if it said anything about Virtual Machine it didn't seam a big deal. So we got what what we got, and I'm reading through Microsoft's ENDLESS down load collection, and it said you could use part if your computer to think it's a second computer and even run a second operating system on it. Now I'd love that and if I knew I would need the next level up we would have got it and when the next cash comes by I'll upgrade. So I read, and read, and they said it wouldn't work, not that it would void the warranty, or make them mad, and Virtual Machine  just sounded So Cool! So I set a restore point,

any took my chance. I mean it runs on XP  and 2000 I got to be up graded from XP. But It works fine so far.

after setting the bottom of the line above on the bottom or the window I found the word of the word white does sit above the top of the comma. Note the word violet. I see it as two tone, purple on top, blue on the bottom. My wife, Tami,who normally sees things better don't see it, again don't give your self a headache doing that!

I will keep live writer and the Internet explorer on at the same time so I can write about what I'm seeing at the time. Most computers can do this just shrink the windows and put them side by side.

Ok, my screen is too dark, and some of my colors don't show up real good.

~W~ If you got a big pitcher on top of your page it will be hard to see what you got so you might put a small gadget on top first, and move it when your done.

remember if it gets too bad you can Close the color window and hit cancel and go back the way it was. ( It can get ugly! ) If you

Customize, Advanced, (wait for it) and Advanced again.

I'll try to work from the inside out. go to the bottom of the selection window open

 Module colors and fonts.

First pick your background color, it's the one you will have the most of on your page. after the color boxes, here I'll try to cut and past it.

Background:

I don't guess that worked, oh well. After the color boxes and the # box you got a box with a lot of little colors in it, use the color boxes first to get you close to what you want then push the multi color box and adjust from there. Push

More colors, then

Define custom colors.

Click and hold the mouse button it the inner window with all the colors in it and move the mouse till you get as close to the color you want in the "color/solid" window. Be sure to use the arrow on the hand side when your real close to make your color a little brighter or darker.

~W~ Make sure you click add to custom colors, then ok or it wont work!

~W~ Next write down the number in the back ground box because when you change your color again latter, you will want to put it back the way it was!

Inside "text and fonts",up at the top of the list, you set the "module text color", and "link" they should be in "module color and fonts"

Right Now I got my back ground at # 2828ff,

header is # 0b2ebb

header text is # 1ce3b1

and the border is # 27a6fa

this is all in blues, a little dark, but I can lighten it up a little with text setting coming up.

Set the border style.

Don't worry about title font style unless you already know the name of one you like. I like Verdana.

Under title font size, it's almost the last thing on the bottom of list if you don't use extra small, ( which is too small for me ) then things like "space contents" won't fit in the small header boxes in most layouts.

Once you set all of these close the module color and fonts window so you will leave these settings alone!

I wont go into background image now because I only have seen one sight I like with one, and I should ask the owner of the sight's permission before send you to her sight, I will ask her.

Next is background colors, if you made up your own colors and you want to make sides or outline go away type the same number I told you to write down in the box.

To see which box to change you can click the color box for yellow or something that shows up good, BUT, this don't work this don't work for "selected" or "hover" because you can't see them on your screen. If you use one of the numbers from before and and wind up on top of the same color, you won't see nothing and won't know it.

#00001 is black, it should show up on anything.

If you set selected and hover to red and yellow, then watch for them, then remember where to come back to them latter when you see where they wind up and what need to be.

Remember, the same color beside it's self disappears, and only the smallest sizes fit in the little boxes.

And always hit delete at the end of your last word.

( I'm still not real happy with my colors, I'll change them again soon. ) "Selected", and "Hover" are still red and yellow, I'll go look for them and close out this post.

Ok, the only red is under the active photo album, and I'm changing it now!

"Hover" I still don't see.

Well, today I'm going to have some real fun, just so every one knows Tam's doing ok. The next thing is on the 10th. We would all like it if you would pray for her. Prayer works, I've seen it work often. That don't mean you get every thing you want by praying, or if you pray and don't get it you can blame God.

Anyway, the fun part is, I'm going to try out as many tools on windows live writer as I can.

Last time I started to do this I got in a fight with the fonts See earlier postings, but the bottom line is the font you use in live writer get reversed or something, what you see is not what you get. 

Examples: this is Trebuchet MS, regular, and nothing in the size box. (default)

In live writer it is too small for my old eyes. So I go to format, and font then set the font size to to 10. Now this looks good in the little window and it looks twice as big on the live writer screen, (view setting is normal) but if it works like it did the other day, it is smaller as you see it now. So, in sequence we have font size 8,10,12,14,18,24,

(36 is BIG!) Wile I'm at it, I might as well test the colors

~W~ this has apparently been fixed That was fast, but the next line came out all kinds of messed up

Black,Brown,Red,Orange,Yellow,Green,Blue,Violet,Gray,White, Gold,Silver.

~W~ on the above line, if you set the bottom of the word blue on the bottom of the window I see the white,gold and silver are above that. different monitors may be different. Also the word violet, to me was a two tone, with violet on top,and blue on the bottom. My wife who sees most things mush better than most people do don't see it, but it's really there. it may or may not be exploitable, but it's worth checking out.

 strange the different colors don't sit on the same line black, brown, red, orange, and green are lower than white, gold.silver, and yellow, with blue, violet, and gray are in between.

Good things to know before you use colors in your postings.

I Like live writer, it's free and easy to use, but it needs work.

Hay Al I think last night I told you about Opera as an option to Internet Explorer, (I.E.)  I might have forgot to tell you the only thing opera is not good for is any thing windows live, that is because Windows keeps it out, then why get it, well I only use "IE" for my windows live things (web space, E-mail, blog, Windows live writer, which works good with the web sight's blog it's fonts are still glitches , Instant messenger, and more), ( I use the same name and pass word to get in them all) and I use opera for every thing else. They got no trouble living on the same machine. just click the one you want, and I have had both running at the same time, it's never been a problem. If you install it or any thing else see if you can set a restore point for your computer first, I think you should have that,  try start, programs, computer brand name. and set a new restore point. Next make sure your getting the correct download for your operating system.That's just good practice. After you download and install (by running) the down load, you will want to go to opera web sight and install the reader for it, Opera's reader works better than anything Micro soft got. ( on every thing but micro soft things ) Part of the reason I bring this up is I just got done showing opera's reader to our new friend (spell U-Lee) because she works with infirm people and weak vision and eve strain problems abound. So, I got an e mail from Al, (Hi Al), that was in German,  Cool, (After changing web browsers, Opera did let me get the Email), and tried reading it, I think it worked, it didn't hang up, and what it said sounded German too me.

I would love it if you try it and let me know what you think.

I had started to use the regular e mail to send this note off to Allen, but because it was all about Tech intz. Scheiße! I thought It would be better posted perhaps to help others. By the way, the above translation came to you by way of the translator found on my web sight as soon as I get the name of the gadget writers I use to credit them there is a lot of cool things you can add on too your sight. I know some times it can bug us when things change, and all the windows live things change often, but remember its all new and its being improved almost daily, and they are listening to people like us. Never thought it happen, but they are!

How did he do that ?

It's easy, use windows live writer, click format, font, and pick one you like, write down the one you started with, because finding a new font you like will take a wile and you might need to put it back the way it was! (Most of them stink!)

What I want to know is why I got to keep resetting it after I hit enter. (Sometimes #$%!)

this font is Trebuchet MS, style is Regular,size is 8,color is blue. The color can be customized, but this will work for now.

Ok, Hay Microsoft, can you hear me yet? I think I isolated the problem.

Font, style, and color all worker, but it's dropping the size setting, and I'm half blind. (I have a big screen)

See, once again it's this size, this time, I used cut to remove a sentence I didn't like, live writer reset to this Poo Poo!

Productivity, is being affected, customers are lost, people get mad and call Bill Gates bad words!

But hay, were working on it, I filled out a survey and told them I was only somewhat satisfied with them!

Really everybody, I love Vista and all of the free software there giving away. Yes, it's buggy, But when you buy the new system, you know your not getting a final edition.  I hear a lot of people itching about Vista They got it and hate it!

Mostly I've heard this second hand from the college students my wife Tami goes to school with. Nothing personal, but there are stupid people in college, if they wanted something with the bugs out get XP, I've never ran it but everyone loves it.

Ok, this time it's going to work!

Hi, my name is Neil, my wife Tami and I are trying to figure out how to set up this windows live web sight. So far, it's been a bit of trouble! I have found no way to get the sight (http://myworldandwelcome.spaces.live.com)to work, or even load into windows visual web developer. The best I got so far is an error telling me the web page does not appear to have front page server extensions installed.

I got no guess why or how Microsoft's things wouldn't work with there other things.

I thought I had it with Open Office.org, is loaded the page, but the changes didn't take.

It got farther than web developer, and I know the address was correct.

Windows Live Writer seams to work.

Save often, Last time I had a large introduction, with lots of added in code, and as I was almost done, the computer crashed and took it all away!

That isn't happening tonight, I'm saving now and going to bed!
